Herbalife Wellness VIP costs US$19.95 a year at every tier, and the discount rises with cumulative spend rather than with the fee.
The three paid US tiers:

Yes. Herbalife products can be bought in the US without joining any tier, at suggested retail, through a distributor. No membership of any kind is required to buy.
The reason to create a free Loyalty Member account anyway is Rewards Points: a non-member order earns nothing, while a Loyalty Member order earns points that can be redeemed later. Since the free tier costs $0, buying without an account gives up something and saves nothing.

What Happened to the Herbalife Preferred Member Program?
Herbalife discontinued the US Preferred Member program on July 20, 2026 and replaced it with Wellness Rewards. The retired program had no free tier.
Retired US Preferred Member figures, for comparison only and no longer available: $34.95 enrollment plus $15 a year — $49.95 for a first year — with Bronze at 20%, Silver at 30% after 500 volume points, and Gold at 40% after 2,500 volume points. Those numbers are historical. Any US page quoting them as current pricing is out of date.
Existing members were migrated rather than cancelled. Bronze Preferred Members moved to Wellness VIP Silver, and both Silver and Gold Preferred Members moved to Wellness VIP Gold, with bonus Rewards Points. Read against the retired program, the free Loyalty Member tier is new. A US buyer in 2026 can hold a Herbalife account for $0, which was not possible before July 20, 2026.
Is There a Free Herbalife Membership in Canada?
No. Canada has no free Herbalife membership tier. Herbalife Canada still runs the Preferred Customer program, which requires a paid enrollment of CA$43.95.
The July 2026 change was US-only. Canadian figures, which are separate from every US number above: CA$43.95 enrollment, Bronze at about 14% immediately, Silver at about 30% after 100 points in 12 months, and Gold at about 30% or more after 500 points in 12 months. Canadian renewal runs roughly CA$15 to CA$20 a year.

How Do You Join Herbalife Wellness Rewards for Free?
Joining the free Herbalife Loyalty Member tier in the US takes one registration form and no payment. The paid Wellness VIP upgrade is the same form with the $19.95 annual fee attached.
