What Happened to the Herbalife Preferred Member Program?
Herbalife ended the US Preferred Member program on July 20, 2026 and replaced it with Herbalife Wellness Rewards. Joining is now free as a Loyalty Member, but that tier earns points only and gives no product discount. Discounts of 15-35% require the paid Wellness VIP membership at $19.95 a year. Existing members were migrated automatically.

Canadian customers: none of this applies to you. Herbalife Canada still runs the Herbalife Preferred Customer program, unchanged, with different fees and thresholds. See the Canadian guide instead.

What Happened to Existing Herbalife Preferred Members?
Nobody had to re-enroll. Herbalife migrated every active US Preferred Member into a Wellness VIP tier automatically on July 20, 2026, and transitioning members received bonus Rewards Points. Most people came out at a higher discount than they had before.
If you were a Bronze Preferred Member on 20% off, you are now on 25% as a VIP Silver member. If you were Silver or Gold, you are on 35% as VIP Gold — which is 5 points lower than the old Gold rate of 40%.
How Much Does Herbalife Wellness VIP Cost, and Is It Worth It?
Wellness VIP costs $19.95 a year. At the Bronze discount of 15%, it pays for itself once you spend about $133 on products in a year — roughly $11 a month. Everything past that point is savings.
Break-even spend at each tier
| Tier | Discount | Annual fee recovered at |
|---|---|---|
| Wellness VIP - Bronze | 15% | $133/yr |
| Wellness VIP - Silver | 25% | $80/yr |
| Wellness VIP - Gold | 35% | $57/yr |
Net annual savings after the $19.95 fee
| Monthly spend | VIP Bronze (15%) | VIP Silver (25%) | VIP Gold (35%) |
|---|---|---|---|
| $50$600/yr | $70 | $130 | $190 |
| $100$1,200/yr | $160 | $280 | $400 |
| $200$2,400/yr | $340 | $580 | $820 |
The tier ladder is reachable rather than theoretical. At $100 a month you cross the $500 Silver threshold within five months, and at $200 a month you approach the $2,500 Gold threshold inside the first year.
Is the New Herbalife Program Better or Worse?
Both, depending on how much you buy. Someone spending very little is better off; someone spending heavily is slightly worse off. The honest summary: entry got cheaper, the ceiling got lower.
Who is better off
- +Anyone who wants to earn Rewards Points without paying anything — the free Loyalty Member tier did not exist before.
- +Anyone spending modestly. Entry is $19.95 instead of $49.95 in the first year, so the bar to start saving is much lower.
- +Existing Bronze Preferred Members, who were moved to VIP Silver — a 25% discount where they previously had 20%.
- +Anyone who found Volume Points confusing. Tiers now qualify on dollars spent, which is a number you can actually check.
Who is worse off
- −Heavy spenders. The ceiling dropped from 40% to 35%, so the best available discount is 5 points worse than before.
- −New joiners who want an immediate discount. The old program gave 20% on day one; VIP Bronze gives 15%.
- −Anyone expecting the free tier to discount products. It does not — it earns points only.
- −Small spenders who join the paid tier anyway. Below about $133 a year, the $19.95 fee costs more than the discount returns.

At Wellness VIP - Gold, spending $150 a month, you would keep $610 a year after the membership fee.
