Herbalife Preferred Member vs Wellness VIP: What Changed

Herbalife Preferred Member vs Wellness VIP: What Changed

What Happened to the Herbalife Preferred Member Program in the US?

Herbalife ended the US Preferred Member program on July 20, 2026 and replaced it with Wellness Rewards. Existing Preferred Members were migrated automatically, with no re-enrollment required and no gap in their discount.

Wellness Rewards has two levels. Joining as a Loyalty Member is free and open to any US customer, but it carries no discount on standard product orders. Wellness VIP is the optional paid membership that sits on top of it, costs $19.95 a year, and is the part that actually discounts products.

The change applied to the United States only. Herbalife Canada continues to run its separate Preferred Customer program, which was not affected. Herbalife publishes its current US program details at herbalife.com.

What Did the Retired Herbalife Preferred Member Program Cost?

The retired US Preferred Member program cost $34.95 to enroll plus a $15 annual renewal, which came to $49.95 in the first year. Those figures are historical. They stopped applying on July 20, 2026 and appear here only for comparison.

The retired US Preferred Member program had three discount tiers:

  • Bronze: 20% off, effective immediately on enrollment

  • Silver: 30% off, after 500 volume points within 12 months

  • Gold: 40% off, after 2,500 volume points within 12 months

A fuller account of the retired program sits on the Preferred Member benefits page. Any site still quoting $34.95 or a 40% Preferred Member discount as current US pricing is working from retired information.

What Does Herbalife Wellness VIP Cost Now?

Herbalife Wellness VIP costs $19.95 a year in the US, with no enrollment fee and no separate renewal charge. That single annual fee is the entire cost of the membership.

Wellness VIP has three tiers, and the tier you reach depends on cumulative spend rather than volume points:

  • VIP Bronze: 15% off, from the day you join

  • VIP Silver: 25% off, at $500 of cumulative spend

  • VIP Gold: 35% off, at $2,500 of cumulative spend

Wellness VIP members also earn Rewards Points at a higher multiplier on Subscribe and Earn orders and get a free product sample with each order. The full current US breakdown is on the Herbalife membership cost page.

How Do the Old and New Herbalife US Programs Compare?

The new Herbalife Wellness VIP membership is cheaper to enter and cheaper to renew, but its discount ceiling is 5 percentage points lower than the retired Preferred Member program at every tier.

Entry cost, Preferred Member versus Wellness VIP:

  • First-year cost: $49.95 (retired Preferred Member) versus $19.95 (Wellness VIP)

  • Renewal: $15 a year versus $19.95 a year

  • Free option with no discount: none existed versus Loyalty Member

Discount at each tier:

  • Entry tier: 20% (retired Bronze) versus 15% (VIP Bronze)

  • Middle tier: 30% at 500 volume points versus 25% at $500 of spend

  • Top tier: 40% at 2,500 volume points versus 35% at $2,500 of spend

Two structural changes matter as much as the percentages. Tier qualification moved from volume points to dollars spent, which is easier to track against your own order history. And a genuinely free tier now exists, which had no equivalent under Preferred Member.

What Happened to Existing Herbalife Preferred Members?

Herbalife migrated existing US Preferred Members into Wellness VIP tiers automatically on July 20, 2026, and most of them moved up rather than down.

The migration worked like this:

  • Bronze Preferred Members became Wellness VIP Silver

  • Silver Preferred Members became Wellness VIP Gold

  • Gold Preferred Members became Wellness VIP Gold

A Bronze Preferred Member who had been getting 20% off became a VIP Silver at 25% off, which is a better discount than they held before. A Gold Preferred Member went from 40% to 35%, which is worse. Transitioning Silver and Gold members received bonus Rewards Points as part of the move.

If you were a US Preferred Member and have not checked your account since July 2026, your tier is worth confirming before your next order, because the discount applied at checkout may not be the one you are expecting.

Is Herbalife Wellness VIP Better or Worse Than Preferred Member?

Herbalife Wellness VIP is better for light and moderate spenders and slightly worse for heavy spenders, and the crossover depends almost entirely on how much you buy in a year.

Someone spending $600 a year at VIP Silver saves $130 after the fee. Under the retired Preferred Member program at Silver, the same spend returned $180 minus a $15 renewal, so $165. The old program was better on that specific comparison, but it also cost $49.95 to get into.

The honest summary is that entry got cheaper and the ceiling got lower. A customer buying one canister of Formula 1 every couple of months is better off now, because the barrier to a discount fell from $49.95 to $19.95. A customer spending $2,500 a year is worse off by 5 percentage points, which is $125 on that spend.

Does the Free Herbalife Loyalty Member Tier Give You a Discount?

The free Herbalife Loyalty Member tier does not discount standard product orders. It is worth being direct about this, because the word "free" invites the opposite assumption.

Loyalty Members earn and redeem Rewards Points and receive 5% off Subscribe and Earn orders. Standard one-off orders are charged at full retail price. The 15% to 35% discounts belong to the paid Wellness VIP membership only.

For a US customer who orders occasionally and wants nothing more than points, the free Loyalty tier is a reasonable place to sit. For anyone buying products regularly, the free tier leaves money on the table that the $19.95 Wellness VIP membership would recover quickly.

How Much Do You Have to Spend for Wellness VIP to Pay for Itself?

Herbalife Wellness VIP pays for its $19.95 annual fee at about $133 of product spend a year at the VIP Bronze tier, which works out to roughly $11 a month.

Break-even by tier:

  • VIP Bronze at 15% off: $133 a year

  • VIP Silver at 25% off: $80 a year

  • VIP Gold at 35% off: $57 a year

Past those thresholds, every dollar of the discount is money kept. At $100 a month of spend, a VIP Silver member nets $280 a year after the fee, and crosses the $500 Silver threshold within five months of joining. The savings calculator will run the arithmetic against your own spending rather than an example. One customer's approach to getting the most out of a membership is covered in how I save over $100 a month.

Did the Herbalife Preferred Customer Program Change in Canada?

Herbalife Canada did not change its program in July 2026. Canadian customers remain on the Preferred Customer program, which is separate from the US Wellness Rewards program and uses different names, fees, and thresholds.

The Canadian Preferred Customer program costs CA$43.95 to enroll, starts at roughly 14% off suggested retail, and moves to about 30% off after 100 points within 12 months. Canadian tiers qualify on points, not on dollars spent.

None of the US figures apply in Canada. A Canadian customer does not pay $19.95, does not need $2,500 of cumulative spend for a top tier, and is not a Wellness VIP member. Canadian details are on the Herbalife Preferred Customer Canada page.

How Do You Join Herbalife Wellness Rewards in the US?

Joining Herbalife Wellness Rewards in the US takes a few minutes online, and the only real decision is whether to take the free Loyalty tier or pay $19.95 for Wellness VIP.

The steps are straightforward. You create an account through an independent Herbalife distributor, choose between the free Loyalty Member tier and the paid Wellness VIP membership, and order. There is no selling requirement at any tier, no monthly minimum, and no autoship obligation. That has not changed from the retired Preferred Member program, and it remains the clearest difference between being a customer and being a distributor, which is covered in Preferred Member vs Distributor.

The full walkthrough is on the how to join page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Herbalife Preferred Member program still available in 2026?

The Herbalife Preferred Member program is no longer available in the United States. Herbalife Canada still operates its separate Preferred Customer program.

Do I need to re-enroll if I was a Herbalife Preferred Member?

US Preferred Members were migrated to Herbalife Wellness VIP automatically on July 20, 2026, so no re-enrollment was needed. Bronze Preferred Members became VIP Silver, and Silver and Gold Preferred Members became VIP Gold. Checking your current tier before your next order is still worth doing, since the discount rate changed.

How much does Herbalife Wellness VIP cost?

Herbalife Wellness VIP costs $19.95 a year in the United States, with no separate enrollment fee. The membership starts at 15% off products, rises to 25% at $500 of cumulative spend, and reaches 35% at $2,500. At the 15% entry rate, the fee is recovered at about $133 of annual product spend.

Is the Herbalife Wellness VIP discount lower than Preferred Member was?

Can I get a Herbalife discount without paying anything?

Did Herbalife Canada switch to Wellness Rewards too?

Herbalife Canada did not switch to Wellness Rewards. The July 2026 change was limited to the United States, and Canadian customers remain on the Preferred Customer program at CA$43.95 to enroll, starting near 14% off and reaching about 30% after 100 points. US figures such as $19.95 and 35% do not apply in Canada.
